The styling of this staircase has been classified as Mission/Colonial, with both influences being evident in the newel post and balusters.  This historic home was required to have the balusters and handrail replaced to meet existing modern building codes.  Every care was taken to retain the styling and craftsmanship of the original staircase, including the manufacture of unique pieces matching the existing antiques, but changed only enough to be accepted by the building inspectors.
