A classic French Provincial staircase, curved to follow the wall, and showing a post-to-post handrail on the upper balcony.     The beautiful wood finish staircase shown above was created for a new home built in a modern suburban neighborhood.  The owner's interior design taste shows a touch of anti-bellum.  Note the unusual back-curve on the handrail where it meets the newel posts, and the curved balcony railing also.
